Edit Case Details on the Overview Tab

The facts of the case, in one place — and easy to fix when one is off.

Overview

The Overview tab is where a case's details live: your client, the other side, the insurance claim, the incident, and the court case if there is one. Ares fills most of it in from the records you upload. When a value is missing or wrong, this is where you change it. Open the case and click Overview in the sidebar; it opens as a tab next to the chat.

What You'll See

A row of tiles across the top: case type, date of incident, the statute of limitations date, which counts down and turns amber, then red, as the deadline gets close, and Opened, the date the case was created, which you can't edit.

Under the tiles, a card for each part of the case:

  • Case Details — what happened, where, and when

  • Client — name and date of birth

  • Defendant — a person or a company

  • Insurance — claim, policy limit, carrier, and adjuster

  • Litigation — court, docket, and filing date. This card appears once one of them is set; to set the first, ask Ares in chat ("set the filing date to June 2, 2026") and click Apply.

A dash means Ares hasn't found that value yet. That's normal early on.

Changing a Value

Click the value, type or pick the new one, and click away. It saves on its own — no Save button, nothing to confirm.

Wondering where a value came from? Hover over it and click the small document icon. You'll see who set it — Ares, Clio, or a person on your team — and when. If Ares read it from a document, the history shows the exact page, one click away.

You can also just tell Ares in chat: "change the date of injury to March 3, 2025." It offers an Apply card, and nothing changes until you click it.

If a value looks wrong, check its history first. Sometimes it came from a page you hadn't read yet.

That's the whole tab. Nothing here is set in stone, and nothing you change here will break the case.
